Jane Burman Powell graduated from New York University, where she was editor-in-chief of the campus newspaper, a job which led to a career in journalism and publishing. After marrying Charles M. Powell and moving to the West Coast, she became deeply involved in the Hollywood community and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. She passed away in 2006.
