Lauren Hanson is Assistant Curator of Modern Art at LACMA. She specializes in twentieth century art from Europe and the United States and has organized installations at LACMA including Artist Selects: Frances Stark, Periodic Love and Perpetual War (2025), Variations on Surrealism: 1930s–70s (2024), and The Figure Abstracted (2023). Additionally, she co-curated Otto Piene: Paths to Paradise (2024) at the Museum Tinguely Basel and, prior to joining LACMA, held curatorial positions at the Blanton Museum of Art and the Busch-Reisinger Museum at the Harvard Art Museums. She received her PhD from the University of Texas at Austin, where her research was supported by DAAD, the Getty Research Institute, the National Endowment for the Humanities, and the Terra Foundation for American Art.
